Enjoy The Silence

Photographic series of 10, ink jet print, 70 x 100 cm, 2015

"Enjoy the silence" is a series of ten photographs linked to the "To get lost maps", taken during my wanderings in the city of Gelsenkirchen.

The title refers to the song by Depeche Mode, which I rediscovered during the residency (as well as other so-called industrial or post-industrial musics from the 70s/80s).

The series thus echoes the immense, deserted, and silent spaces discovered during these wanderings, as well as the music video (originally composed as a "ballad") where singer Dave Gahan strolls in nature, between the Scottish plains, the Portuguese coasts, and the Swiss mountains in search of a "point of view" to place his deck chair.

"All I ever wanted, all I ever needed is here, in my arms" then creates an analogy between the deck chair and the camera, both searching for a point of view.
