Valse pour un couloir d’hopital

In-situ installation of 103 paintings on MDF wood panels, 1083 x 235 cm , Hjelset Hospital, 2025

”Valse pour un couloir d’hôpital”, is an in-situ wall-installation consisting of 103 paintings. It represents the visual graphic score of an ambient music specially composed for this corridor in the hospital. Each painting mimics a musical note: the height on the panel indicates the pitch, while the length indicates the duration.

The musical composition consists of eighteen musical bars, each corresponding to a wooden panel on the wall.

The piece is installed directly above a bench, a place for pause. The music it refers to is inspired by Brian Eno’s ambient works, such as ’Music for Airports’ or ’Music for Elevators’.

Two QR codes (on both sides of the work) take the visitors to a Soundcloud link where they can listen to the music in a 3-minutes loop, as a repetitive music on hold, in this waiting area.
